Microsoft Open License Agreement 6.x - Open Business, Educational, Charity, and Government

  1. How do I transfer licenses?
    Complete the "Transfer License" form located at https://eopen.microsoft.com for the licenses to be transferred. All licenses purchased under the same Authorization Number must be transferred. Fax in the completed forms for each license number to 800.268.7639 for processing.
  2. What happens if I stop purchasing?
    You are not obligated to make further purchases under the open program if you do not wish to. Your authorization number and corresponding maintenance purchases will lapse at the natural expiration date of the agreement.
  3. How do I find out how many licenses I have?
    Softchoice can set you up with an internet ID to run purchase history reports online for orders placed with us. Or, purchases can also be tracked on the eOpen website. You will need your authorization and license confirmation numbers.
  4. How can I request a re-send of my license confirmation?
    These can be requested by calling 800.268.7638 and referencing the Sales Order number or Invoice number in question.
  5. Is media included with my purchase?
    No, software media is not included, but can be purchased at a cost with license purchase.
  6. Where can I find the serial number to unlock my media?
    These can be found on the eOpen website: https://eopen.microsoft.com or by calling the MS activation center: 888.352.7140. You will need your Authorization and License numbers.
  7. Can different locations purchase under the same open license authorization number?
    Open Licensing is sold by region. Affiliates within the North American region (United States and Canada only) can share the same Authorization number.
  8. Is there special pricing for educational, government, or charity organizations?
    There is discounted pricing. Please call 800.268.7638 to find out the specific qualifications as they differ for the US and Canada.
  9. Is there further discounted pricing for bulk corporate purchases?
    Microsoft has an Open Volume program that requires an upfront 500 point minimum within a specific pool on an initial order. Each license will carry a point value. Please call 800.268.7638 for more details.

Microsoft Open Value Agreement 6.x

  1. How do I view my license purchase history?
    These can be viewed on the MVLS (Microsoft Volume Licensing Services) site: https://eopen.microsoft.com. The Notices Correspondent listed on the online agreement will be able to access this and grant access to other users. The agreement number will be needed.
  2. How do I find my agreement number?
    If the purchase was made through Softchoice, we can provide this to you. The agreement number is also located on the Acceptance Letter that MS will send out the Notices Correspondent once the agreement is processed.
  3. Is media included with my purchase?
    No, software media is not included, but can be purchased at a cost with license purchase.
  4. What is the difference between the company wide option vs the standard option?
    The Company Wide Option provides discounted pricing for one or more of the Enterprise Products-MS Office Professional, MS Windows Pro Desktop OS Upgrade, and MS Core Cal-if they are licensed on an enterprise wide basis across all desktops. The Standard Option is the program offering that all other products are purchased under.
  5. How do I transfer licenses?
    Complete the "Transfer License" form located at https://eopen.microsoft.com for the licenses to be transferred. All licenses purchased under the same Authorization Number must be transferred. Fax in the completed forms for each license number to 800.268.7639 for processing.
  6. What if I need to change the contact listed on MVLS?
    Please contact the named reseller on the agreement and provide the agreement number and new contact information so that the changes can be requested.
  7. Can educational organizations, charities, and government entities purchase under the open value program?
    They can purchase under this program, but discounted pricing is not offered.

Microsoft Select Agreement 6.x

  1. What will I receive once I have placed an order?
    Upon placing an order, you are licensed to use the corresponding Microsoft software and will receive an emailed license confirmation from Softchoice.
  2. When do I receive my license confirmation from Microsoft?
    Since the release of the Select 6.X licensing program, MS no longer sends physical license confirmations to end users. Order confirmations and verification of license purchases are now available on the MVLS (Microsoft Volume Licensing Services) Site: https://eopen.microsoft.com. The Notices Correspondent listed on the contract will be able to access this and grant access to other users. The agreement number will be needed.
  3. How do remote locations and affiliates receive physical media?
    Affiliates who sign enrollments for their location are eligible to receive one Select CD Kit for each pool and/or the monthly software updates. An affiliate who does not sign an enrollment can order the individual media kits required. Alternatively, CD Welcome Kits and monthly subscriptions can be purchased for the licensed Select pools and shipped to local or international locations without enrollments.
  4. How often are Select CDs shipped?
    Once an agreement is signed and processed by MS, the Comprehensive Kit (a.k.a. Welcome Kit) is shipped 2nd day air to the end user. Subsequent media kit updates (if any) are sent out on the 1st of every month.
  5. What if I'm missing products within my shipments, or if the media is damaged?
    We can request complimentary re-shipment of missing or damaged products within 60 days of original shipment date. Please provide a list of the end item product part number, product name/description, and language of the kits. If it has been more than 60 days since the product was shipped, the replacement media can be ordered for a cost.
  6. How do I find what products are included on the Select CDs?

  7. Can I download my media?
    Select customers have the option of downloading media on the MVLS site: https://licensing.microsoft.com. The notices correspondent named on the contracts will be able to grant access to other users to access the site. Microsoft has established a hotline to help walk customers through the site: 866.230.0560. The enrollment number of the Select agreement will be needed.
  8. What are the level checks during the term of the agreement?
    Microsoft will run a compliance check on select agreements on the anniversary date of the agreement. As the Select 6.x is a 3-year agreement, one-third of the purchase forecast selected for each pool needs to be attained each year. Customers who fall short of the level check will be re-leveled down for pricing on future purchases. Or, in the case of Select level A pricing, the pool in question will be terminated on the enrollment level.
  9. I currently have a software supplier, but would like to buy from Softchoice. Can more than one reseller be listed on the enrollment?
    No. Only one reseller can be named on each enrollment. Softchoice can provide you with a 'change of reseller' form so that a new reseller can be designated. Or, an additional enrollment can be signed with Softchoice if a minimum purchase of 750 points, regardless of product pools, can be forecasted before the end of the agreement term.
  10. How do I transfer licenses?
    You may transfer any license in case of a divestiture, merger or consolidation. For all other transfers, Microsoft's written consent is required. For Select 5.X and prior agreements, the physical license confirmation from MS must be transferred. For Select 6.X agreements, a transfer form must be completed.   11. How long do I have to renew my Software Assurance purchased under my Select Agreement?
    For Select 6.x customers, the Software Assurance maintenance must be renewed within 30 days after the expiration date of the agreement that the maintenance was purchased under.

Microsoft Enterprise Agreement

  1. How do we purchase additional products?
    Additional Microsoft Server and Application products are available under an Enterprise Agreement. These costs cannot be annualized, and pricing is pro-rated based on the number of years remaining in the agreement. Alternatively, customers may purchase these products under a Select or Open Agreement.
  2. How do I transfer licenses?
    Complete the "Transfer License" form located at https://eopen.microsoft.com for the licenses to be transferred. All licenses purchased under the same Authorization Number must be transferred. Fax in the completed forms for each license number to 800.268.7639 for processing.
  3. How do overseas locations receive media?
    They can download the media off the MVLS site: https://licensing.microsoft.com or they can order additional welcome kits and/or monthly updates to be shipped abroad for a cost.
  4. What happens if our company changes its name?
    Two signed original letters on your company letterhead must be submitted to request this change. The letter must also contain the following: Entity name listed currently on the agreements, new entity name, all of the agreement numbers that will be affected, and the reason for the change request.
  5. What if I'm missing products within my shipments, or if the media is damaged?
    Reports are not automatically sent out. However, you can run reports online through Softchoice SAM after a user account has been set up. Please call 800.268.7638 to request this. Or, purchases can also be tracked on the MVLS site: https://licensing.microsoft.com
  6. Do I automatically receive any reporting of product purchases?
    Enterprise customers have the option to choose "Listed Languages" or "All Languages" for their license purchases. Most EA customers select the Listed Language option which entitles customers to run the following languages: Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Czech, English, French Canadian, Hebrew, Hungarian, Korean, Japanese, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, and Thai. And, up to 10% of the copies of each licensed product can be run in the following "Restricted Languages": Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Norwegian, Portugal Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish. "All Language" customers can run all copies of licensed products in the "Listed" or "Restricted" languages.
  7. What languages am I authorized to use?

Microsoft has established a hotline to help walk customers through the site: 866.230.0560. The enrollment number of the Select agreement will be needed.
  8. Why am I receiving delinquent true-up notifications from Microsoft?
    Under the Enterprise Agreement, an annual true-up order must be placed for any additional qualified desktops, qualified users, or copies off additional add-on products that have been added through the course of the year. If these counts have not increased, two signed originals of an update statement (used to be known as a true-up form) must be submitted to Softchoice for processing within 15 days following the anniversary date of the agreement. Microsoft will send out notifications until the form has been received, or a true-up order is processed. Please contact your Softchoice representative to obtain the form.
  9. Should EA payments be made to Softchoice?
    Microsoft bills end users directly for EA 6.x corporate agreements. Customers are requested to remit payments electronically. Please contact your Softchoice representative for more information.
  10. How do I request that an invoice to be resent?
    EA 6s bill directly from Microsoft to the customer, so the invoices are generated by Microsoft. Please call 800.268.7638 and Softchoice can request that Microsoft re-fax an invoice.
