Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book part of Microsoft’s exciting new product lineup

On October 6th, 2015, at Microsoft’s Windows 10 devices event in New York, a number of exciting new product additions were announced to the Surface family.

Introducing Microsoft’s first ever laptop

Surface Book is a convertible laptop version of the Surface designed to work with touch, a Pen or mouse. It features a 13.5-inch detachable display, up to 12-hours battery life, a Microsoft-designed keyboard, and a glass trackpad.

What people are really excited about is the snaking hinge, which lets the screen flip around or be safely detached to create a standalone Surface tablet. This is the first venture by Microsoft into the laptop arena, and we’re excited to see where it’s headed.

Softchoice is proud to be one of the few Microsoft resellers in North America that will be selling the Surface Book, starting at US$1,499. We are now taking pre-orders.

Surface Pro 4 is tightly integrated with Windows 10

The other exciting new product announcement was the Surface Pro 4, which Microsoft claims to be 30% faster than the Surface Pro 3, and 50% faster than the MacBook Air. With a 12.3-inch display and reduced bezels, it has a bigger screen size than the Surface Pro 3, but maintains the same physical footprint.

Five of the six configurations available are powered by Intel’s Core i5 or Core i7 processor. The Surface Pro 4 also comes with up to 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM.

The Surface Pro 4 starts at US$899. Contact Softchoice to pre-order.

Finally, Microsoft spent some time talking up its new accessories, including a customizable Surface Pen, which magnetically attaches to the Surface. There’s also a redesigned Type Cover with back lit keys that uses a new scissor design for faster and quieter typing. The new Type Cover is compatible with older Surface models.
