To SIEM or Not to SIEM

From the experts | Posted on September 14, 2012 by Lesley Morris

Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions are a combination of SIM (security information management) and SEM (security event manager).

Whatever the acronym used, these products provide real-time analysis of security alerts generated by network hardware and applications and log security data and generate reports for compliance purposes.

SIEM plays a key role in helping secure infrastructures and Softchoice’s Director of Security Solutions Stephen Perciballi is an expert in its use.  He is very focused on helping customers build strong resilient solutions to protect their critical information assets and has a special interest in mentoring others to help them learn and manage their security technologies.

His special interest in SIEM technologies has resulted in a couple of recent blog posts that we thought you should know about, if you share Stephen’s technical interest in SIEM.  The first is 6 Things You should know about implementing a SIEM solution which outlines some of the key considerations that you and your vendor need to understand.

The second is SIEM Security and Event Management and deals with the more technical aspects of the correlation rules you need to consider when thinking about implementing SIEM.

To read more articles from Stephen, download the recent Ultimate Security Guide and watch his video introduction.

Stephen always likes to hear from customers about security, so please leave you questions/comments below or contact Stephen directly.
